Luca Debus
At a very young age, Luca Debus began a passionate, lifelong romance with comics and cartoons, especially those of Charles Schulz. With the unshakable hope that this love wasn’t one-sided, he went on to graduate from the International School of Comics in Padua while also completing degrees in literature at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice in Italy and the University of Heidelberg in Germany. During these studies, he undertook many research projects focusing on comics and Schulz.
At this intersection of comics and literature, Luca has authored a version of Oscar Wilde’s play The Importance of Being Earnest by creatively reimagining and retelling the beloved classic in comic strips. He now creates the weekly comic strip #vengoanchio: Kindergarten, a playful series based on childhood versions of characters from Francesco Matteuzzi and Luca Mazzocco’s graphic novel series #vengoanchio. He posts many more of his comics ventures on his social media platforms @debusluca. Maybe someday he will achieve his greatest dream and draw his own American newspaper strip.
